Ascent of King Peak on 2018-07-21
|Date:||Saturday, July 21, 2018|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||4088 ft / 1246 m|
Ascent Trip ReportThe drive in is fairly long, but not too challenging. There were a couple of low clearance vehicles many miles deep on King Peak Road. The hike itself follows a trail all the way to the summit, unfortunately the ocean was fogged in. Did the lollypop hike that seems to be the popular method. Afterword I took the Saddle Mountain Road, it was steep but not too rocky, I was able to drive that back to a later junction on King Peak road. This bypasses all of the stream crossings, although I would not attempt the road in a 2wd given the steepness. But in a 4wd this route is shorter distance and adds some variety.
