Ascent Trip ReportI woke up to my alarm around 05:30 in the mont Sourire trailhead parking and packed quickly. I then took the road through Saint-Donat, getting back on HWY 329, heading south. I got to chemin Wall, which I had seen should lead me to lac Legault, but when I turned onto it, I saw a sign that told visitors to go through Lac-Dufresne. It wasn't such a long detour and I eventually made it to l'Interval. There, I looked around and saw no one so I decided to take the trail as it was really early. There should be a self-pay register for those situations.
Going through a field of small cabins, I followed the trail and crossed a wooden bridge. I saw I needed to follow trail no.7 and it was useful info as there were many chaotic junctions. The slope then steepened sharply and a series of wide switchbacks made the climb relatively easy. The footing was good and I was able to keep up a decent speed. When the trail crested over the ridge, it followed northwest and became almost flat. The remaining elevation gain was minimal and I soon was standing at the summit area, completely wooded with almost no views. I didn't stay more than a few seconds and started downhill. I didn't want to lose any time as I had other peaks to climb that day.
It was a quick stroll back to the bottom, across the bridge, and then back to my car. Dumping everything in the back, I took the road south towards my next climbs in parc national du Mont-Tremblant.
