Ascent Trip ReportI left Cassis at ~540a and took the dirt roads and trails through Calanques Park, up to the Col de la Gardiole, and across the ridge (at sunrise) to the summit of Mont Puget. I enjoyed the fantastic view along with chocolate cookies for breakfast. I detoured a bit on the way down, and ended my run/hike at Calanque d'en Vau. It was about 6 miles from town to the summit along the most direct route, and the trails and dirt roads were well-marked. I enjoyed this easy jaunt before the heat of the day set in and reveled in the solitude of the Mont Puget summit, just a few miles from very busy beaches. If visiting the area, I suggest bringing a topo map of the park (or buying one at the visitor center). I helped multiple parties find their bearings back to trails, beaches, and vehicles over the few days I was in the park just by having a map.
