Ascent Trip ReportWife gave Isabel and I two hours of sunlight on a gorgeous day after 3 weekends of rainy swamp weather. We chose to knock off Pluto peak and gather some information on road conditions to the long time pending destination of awesomess -Mount Crag.
After some miles on the approach road, massive rutts began to appear. After scraping my front end on 5 consecutive rutts, the 6th looked impassable with my hyundai elantra. Will have to be in an suv for this one. Got a great view of MT Crag from the road to pluto and decided to get out and do some hiking vs road exploration, so we headed over to the Duckabush trail to see if we could make it to Little Hump prior to sun going down.
With little light remaining, we headed up the trail for the first time hiking approximately a mile plus before the trail started to diverge from the gps map. With the sun down, we had to leave this summit for another day, not wanting to be off trail with flashlights. We had a pleasant hike out in the dark, listening to the river, flowing strong from all the recent rain. Also had some nice views of Jupiter on the approach.
