Ascent Trip Report

I expected the gate to be open after May 1, but apparently the road hadn't firmed up enough since the snow melted and it was still locked. I decided to do the full 15+ mile route. I jogged as much of the flatter sections as I could, but it was muddy in many places since it rained a good amount in the prior 24 hours. Made it to the summit in 1:51, including clearing lots of debris left over from winter along the way. I climbed the huge erratic to get the highest point (hint: use the tree to pull yourself up) and was rewarded with a cool find - a survey bolt! Climbed the tower and admired the views for a bit on this, my final fire tower challenge peak. Left after 25 minutes, and made it back to the trailhead 1:26 later, jogging the whole 5+ miles on the jeep road in 44:20. Total time was 3:42 round trip.
