Ascent Trip ReportI started just off Carlisle Road at a mine entrance (before reaching the starting point for Vanderbilt Peak), the sign at the locked gate said to call for permission to enter, which I did and got permission right away. (The phone numbers are on the sign, but I didn't have cell service there so had to call before I left Duncan). I also had service (Verizon) at the top of a hill about half way back on the road. Unfortunately I lost my cell phone at Steeple Rock so can't add any details about times, distance, GPS track, etc., or any pictures. After the summit of Mount Royal I went over to Steeple Rock to check on the route. I was told that there is an old chain ladder for the final summit climb but didn't see one anyplace so I must not have been at the normal route. I was on the west side and didn't see any way to reach the summit, no fixed protection either.
After spending about a half hour looking for my phone I returned to my starting point by a different route than my previous one, reaching my motorcycle at 6:40 pm. I think I started at about 11 am. I'm going back tomorrow to look for my phone again, I had just received a phone call a few minutes previous to realizing it was missing so have a general area to look in. If I find it I can fill in the details of the climb!
I went back and found my phone!
