This peak is part of a large mine and it appears that the summit area has been mined away. The new summit, on the north edge of the mine, is now about 2240 feet, 40 feet lower than the original summit. Further mining may have made this lower, and perhaps eaten away at the large white rocks making a large letter "G" (for Goldendale) on the peak. The old lookout tower may have been moved, too. |
