List Description"Core Europe" includes everything west of Russia except Iceland, Svalbard, Jan Mayen, Madeira, the Azores, and the Canaries. This is a reasonable, compact definition that focuses on areas that are unmistakably "European" in the minds of most people. The main ranges here are the Alps, Pyrenees, Balkan ranges, and several large Mediterranean islands (including Cyprus). There is a great variety to this list, as is common with many prominence-based lists that cover a wide area.
