List Description

List Info

Northeastern hikers are notorious peakbaggers, but this list has not yet received a great deal of attention. Since it is based on prominence and not elevation, it does not have the focus on the high peaks of the White Mountains, Adirondacks, and other concentrations of high peaks. Instead, it presents a very well-balanced selection of peaks scattered all over the northeast; 15 in Maine, 13 in Vermont, 13 in New York, 12 in New Hampshire, and Greylock in Massachusetts. Over half these peaks (29) are under 4000 feet, and 13 are even below 3500 feet.

  • Book County High Points by Andy Martin; list compiled 2000 by Roy Schweiker, Edward Earl, Andy Martin, and Ron Tagliapietra.
  • List generation helped by Edward Earl's WinProm program.
  • Posts made to the Yahoo Prominence Group online forum.
  • Prominence values in this list may not agree 100% with sources, due to different interpretations of key col spot elevations and out-dated peak elevations in the PBC Database.
