This list shows all the peaks that are over 4,500 feet high and also the highest point in a county (or equivalent) east of the Missisppi River in the United States. It is interesting to note that Mount Mitchell gives Yancey County a national rank of #315 out of the 3141 counties. This means that almost exactly 10% of U.S. counties are higher than the highest one in the east. Mount Washington would rank Coos County #335.
