List Description

The new constitution of South Africa re-organized the country into nine provinces, eliminating familiar jurisdictions such as the Transvaal and the Cape Province. This yields a nice, still mangeable list of summits for the South African peakbagger. Note that Lesotho, enitrely surrounded by South Africa, has a higher peak than any on this list.

Special thanks to Jan Viljoen of Ladismith who pointed out to me the definitive list of high points and helped me research their locations for this site.

Research for this list was also aided by the detailed maps in the Reader's Digest Atlas of South Africa, in addtition to other sources.
