I am kind of new to possessing the desire to summit peaks, i have been backpacking quite frequently for the last ten years and was always satisfied trekking through the wilderness, but upon summiting a peak recently i realized that i could gain an excellent vantage point that allowed me to gain greater understanding of the lay of the land through which I was walking. This was a wonderful realization because many recent exploits have had a substantial portion of trekking along no established trails or "bushwacking." Sure, gaining a higher vantage point was always useful, but the significant elevation gain provided from a peak with substantial prominence is not only breathtaking, but exceedingly useful as well. So, through the upcoming years I hope to not only trek through as many wild areas as i am able, but also develop an increased comprehension of where I am, where I am going, and where I would like to go in the future!
