Wilderness is a cathedral, a sacred place-- a spiritual state of mind-- in which we can acknowledge, appreciate, and thus honor the creative force to which we are intimately bound. We become in sense, more complete. I read this quote in a book once that stuck in my mind. It is very true. The sport of mountaineering is a great one. We do it not for the strenuous adventure, but for the challenge of being one with nature. With every climb that I completed and hope to in the future. The mountain is my sacred place. The feeling I get when I reach each summit will be my fuel to reach beyond my limits and to achieve something most only dream of.
