Time-Period Summary Reports

These reports show number of peaks climbed, highest point reached, and other statistics grouped by year or month.

Edward Whymper's climb of the Matterhorn in 1865 remains perhaps the most famous ascent in the history of mountaineering, and it cements his fame as the most notable climber of the 1800s. However, his achievements go well beyond his seven unsuccessful attempts on the Matterhorn and the tragic final conquest. From 1861 to 1865 Whymper made several notable first ascents in the Alps, and his post-Matterhorn career includes notable climbing trips to Ecuador and the Canadian Rockies.
