Ascent Trip ReportHoly Island, also known as Lindisfarne, is famous as the home of one of the earliest and greatest centres of Christian civilisation in the Middle Ages. It still has a great beauty and atmosphere about it, whether you arrive across the causeway by car or the sands by foot like a pilgrim. The view from the castle south to Bamburgh is classed as one of England's 100 best views in the book of that title by Simon Jenkins.
