Ascent Trip ReportGot this trip off to a bad start. We drove up following the southern edge of Hurricane Floyd into the High Peaks region yesterday. Pulled into Elizabethtown with no gas in the tank after encountering severe headwinds pretty much all the way from Albany. We stopped at a local gas station and just as I got the nozzle seated, the town's power went out. Ended up getting stuck in town for 9 hours before the power came back on and I was able to finally pump some gas. Thankfully, there was a bar in town where we beered up and played pool all day. When we were finally able to go hiking today, the views were crisp and outstanding with Floyd having cleared out. Unfortunately, the trails were more like streams.
