Ascent Trip ReportI took the "Whiteface/Piper Trail" -- it leaves left from Belknap Mountain Road at the very end -- a couple of houses beyond a sign saying "Public access ends here". I parked at the sign and went up the trail. On the ridge, the green-blazed trail from Piper comes in and a "Whiteface" sign points right. There aren't many blazes beyond here. The trail soon turns into a jeep road, following the ridge. The only slightly tricky part is where the trail reaches a large open area with a very large fire pit (filled with trash, of course). One jeep trail goes left and off the ridge, and another goes right and off the ridge. Turn into the road down to the right, and the road along the ridge continues to the left just out of sight from the open area. Eventually the jeep roads emerge on the open ledges of Whiteface, where there is more trash. This mountain has beautiful wide open ledges and it is too bad some of its visitors don't seem to appreciate it.
