Ascent Trip Report

I followed the road toward Mary's Peak trailhead over a few patches of snow, until I reached a stretch that had 4- 6" snow with just 2 ruts where other vehicles went through, so I just parked down Mary's Peak Road a bit and decided to climb this peaklet for exercise. Someone in a truck almost got stuck trying to turn around, and I saw a guy in a jeep try to get further past him up the road, but he came back down in a few minutes later saying he might have been able to get up to the parking lot, but his vehicle was making a funny noise. As it was, I just trudged up the dirt road, which was covered in up to 3 feet of snow, with bare road in a few places, and not much snow left on the steeper natural slopes. The snow wasn't fresh and had a crust above the soft stuff, but I only broke through a few times, going down to my knees. Most of it was just slippery and mucky walking over old ski and boot tracks. When I got to the radio towers on top, I saw someone had skied around the fence on top. I followed half way round to the snowy high point, the drifts on top being higher but more stable.
