Ascent Trip Report

***Sierra Club Outing***
led by Bill Simpson, Mat Kelliher, Virginia Simpson, Mike Dillenback, Stephen McDonnell, Jerry Grenard, Jeff Buch, Larry Pond

Nice loop hike out of Big Pine Flat to get Shay Mtn, Ingham Pk, Little Shay Mountain, and Hawes Peak. Bill had each of the leaders on this one lead a different leg of the hike. I led up Shay, Jerry Grenard led from Shay to Ingham Peak, Virginia led from Ingham to Little Shay, Stephen led from Little Shay to Hawes, Larry Pond & Jeff Buch led from Hawes back to the trailhead. We drove in from the west on paved roads from Hesperia. East of Hesperia the roads became dirt in pretty good shape, High Clearance was needed in a couple of spot.

Pretty much cross country with not much of use trail to Shay; sometimes vague use trail to the rest of the peaks.

Mileage and gain for entire loop = 9.1 miles, 3,100' gain, 9 hours
