Ascent Trip Report

SOLO ascent.

Arrived at the Cog Railway Station at 7:00pm on December 31st 2009. Sorted my gear and and at 7:45pm I followed the Cog Railway to the col between Mount Clay and Mount Washington. Once there I headed straight toward the Washington summit and arrived there at 11:58pm to celebrate the New Year.

The wind was fairly tame, especially for this mountain and with the blowing snow and freezing fog visability was fairly limited (roughly to within 100 feet). I returned via the same route.

The descent was quite difficult and took almost as much time as the ascent. Total R/T time (including breaks) was just under 8 hours.
