Ascent of Mount Sherrill on 2009-12-30
|Date:||Wednesday, December 30, 2009|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Location:||USA-New York|
| Elevation:||3540 ft / 1078 m|
Ascent Trip ReportWent via the usual route: turned off Devil's Path from Mink Hollow trailhead, over North Dome, then Sherrill and back to Spruceton Road. Traded crampons for snowshoes at the summit of North Dome. Came down Sherrill to col and struck out for Spruceton Road from there. Was about 40 minutes behind another hiker, so it was easy to follow his tracks. I turned off his trail when I realized that he was going back over North Dome. Bushwack was steep and tough in places with snowshoes. Came out of the woods right at Shoemaker bridge (which was a bit farther from the trailhead than last time, but a much easier exit/river crossing overall). Found some sort of path for the last 1/4 or 1/2 mile - possibly an old logging road. I was back at the trailhead about 10 minutes before the hiker who left before me.
