Ascent Trip Report

I parked just north of the Stone Mountain Country Store on the west bound side of the road where the guardrail ends. I should have park a little bit further near where Mosswood Road enters (and where the north end of the guard rail can be found. Where I parked and entered is private land. Up by Mosswood is state park land.

This is a total bushwhack to the summit. One mile or perhaps a bit more one way to the top. Underbrush was not a problem. Slipping on fallen leaves while going up and down steep slopes was. The route was simple: head down to Little Sandy Creek and then climb to the summit of Combs. Combs' summit is forested but I did find an unobstructed view of Bucks Peak. No fire rings or other sign of visitation on Combs. I reckon it doesn't get much hiker traffic.

The creek area was scenic as were the stone slopes that surrounded one of the contributing drainages.
