Ascent Trip Report

Drive US 95 south from Quartzsite, AZ, or north from Yuma, AZ. At milepost 55 turn east on a paved road towards Castle Dome City and Museum. The pavement ends in about 2 miles. Continue on another 4 miles and enter the Kofa National Wildlife Refuge. Dispersed camping is available in the refuge within 100 feet of this road. Drive another 4 miles and pass through two unlocked gates by the Castle Dome Mining Museum. Continue following the road through one more unlocked gate to the mouth of a canyon and wide wash. This is the trailhead.

Follow the wash to the east about 1.75 miles. Leave the wash on a climbers trail and follow it southeast towards the northeast side of the peak to reach a narrow notch between a rock column and the main peak, itself. Just below the notch on your right is a knobby class 3 face/ramp leading up to easier scrambling on a well-cairned route across ledges and up gullies to the summit.
