Ascent Trip ReportThis is quite the hidden gem - without the description on summitpost.com, I never would have found this nice trailhead and trail. The road begins off US 60 between mile marker 70 and 71 across from a lone palm tree on the north side of the road.
The road is passable for passenger cars (at least for my Honda Civic), but I stopped at about 1.8 miles from the road at the horse trailer parking area, about .4 miles before the trailhead.
The trail appeared not maintained, but was usually in good shape except for a few places where thorny bushes overgrew the trail (glad I didn't wear shorts). The trail was long enough (thanks to plentiful switchbacks) that the slope was very gradual. The trail had loose rocks in places, but because it wasn't steep, they weren't much of a problem.
