Ascent Trip Report

***Sierra Club Outing***
led by Mat Kelliher, Bill Simpson, Mike Dillenback

Nice hike up to Forsee Creek Trail to San Bernardino Peak Divide Trail. Forsee Creek Trail just opened a few weeks prior and it's been cleaned up really nicely and is in great shape - except for at one spot about 4.5 miles up. Here there was a very large log which had fallen across the trail. To get around it most of us just climbed over the top; one of our group went around it though and she fell while doing so and twisted her ankle. Everything looked ok; no swelling, no broken skin, distal circulation ok, but she was in pain so three others in our group took her out (it took them about 4 hours to get out the 4.5 miles). Interestingly, on our way back down, we noticed that the log had been cut and moved off the trail!

We did Anderson first and then hit Shields second. Good peaks, nice weather, long day. Mileage and gain for entire trip: 16.0 miles, 5,000', 10.5 hours

Our party consisted of:

Bill Simpson
Stella Cheung
Mary Varalyay
Lisa Lee
Tom Connery
