Ascent Trip Report

Drove down 3N14 out of Fawnskin to 2N13 and onto West Point where there was parking. The road was rough in spots and requires a 4WD car. From West Point tried to follow HPS Route 2, but there was no real use trail to follow, so went cross country up the ridgeline, basically following the HPS Route 2 track. The buckthorn was deep in places, so wear long pants. After a few bumps and nearly at the summit, we found the fire road noted in HPS Route 1 and followed that top the summit.

We learned that taking the shortest route (2 miles versus HPS Route 1 at 4 miles) is not always the best. I would recommend keeping to Route 1, unless there is some serious clipping and ducking on route 2.
