Ascent Trip ReportDrove 4 hours north from home to the trailhead at Mt. Zion church parking lot. Got there around Lunchtime. Hiked about 30-40 minutes to the summit via the "Hard" unmaintained, blue blazed trail over False Mountain, signed the register in the box at the "kiosk" at the summit, and came back down via the well worn and maintained "Easy" trail. My wife Summer 26yrs, daughter Maki 6yrs, daughter Ariana 3yrs, and son Eli 1.5yrs old occumpanied me on the hike. My son hiked halfway on foot and halfway on my shoulders. Very easy hike but very appropriate for our first family high point. The hike was pleasant and the summit suprisingly scenic for being in Louisiana. Overall a pleasant HP ascent. My personal #2 State HP.
