Ascent Trip ReportThe dirt roads leading to the trailhead required some careful navigating. Coming from the north/MA, the parking lot is located immediately after the state line post, to the left of the road. The hike started out easily enough through the woods before the deceivingly named Round Hill. The way up Round Hill was actually somewhat steep, with a few scrambling sections, and as you near the top you get your first views of the hike to the east and Bear Mtn. in Conn.
From the top of Round Hill we had our first view of Frissell. Being extremely out of shape and having found the way up Round to be especially grueling, the summit of Frissell seemed to be miles away. However, after a quick descent of Round we were quickly going up Frissell's slopes, which were easier and went by in a hurry. A side trail took us to the top of the mountain itself, which had no views. Going back to the main trail we found our way to the Connecticut High Point within a few minutes, which offered great views south into Conn. and NY. The return trip featured another acsent of Round we made it back to the car...for the second time in our hike; after initially starting up the trail for about 15 minutes, I had realized that I left my camera in the car, thus meriting a trip back.
