Ascent Trip Report

Start 7:30, end 18:00. Went by the round pond trail. Everything went fine but I lost my way near the top on the way to the hunter pass, as I exited the forest I went on the left and didn't see the trail head to the right. I saw a cairn afar, on top of the slide, and thought that's were I had to go. When saw another cairn farther. Past the top cairn I realized there was no trail. Wasted a least 1 hour, if not 1.5 hour, trying to find a trail head. It was exhausting as all this is on top of the slide which was very steep. When I came back down, after giving up trying to find the trail head, I found the big cairns that would have been on my right. No idea how I missed them. By now it was 13:30 and I had to keep enough time to come down. I almost did it. Next time. I estimate my mileage was 6.2 mi up then back down.
