Ascent Trip Report***Solo Hike
Peaks: Thunder Mountain (8,587'), Telegraph Peak (8,985'), Timber Mountain (8,303'), and failed attempt at Bighorn Peak (8,441')(in that order
Stats: 10 miles ONE WAY, +2750' gain (started @ Baldy Notch by taking Skilift and finished at Icehouse Canyon trailhead; got car ride to Skilift by Peter Doggett afterwards)
-All Three T's have trails to the summit.
1.) THUNDER: I missed the road leading to Thunder Mountain
and followed the wrong road (which dead-ended) in front of
a gully south of Thunder. Cross-countried up the gully)
2.) TIMBER: Went cross-country up the slope, but
fortunately it intersected with the trail to the summit
-BIGHORN PEAK: Went up +440' and turned back. Use trail
came and went, lots of brush, found use trail again but
didn't finish following it (didn't want to keep ride
waiting...turned out I was at least 1 hr 15 min ahead of
them!!!)
