Ascent Trip Report

OK I found this route today. If you park at Expedition Drive (not Place) it is lower than the trailhead at Expedition Place. Both require you to park adjacent to the park across from residential lots. Last time I parked here, I could find the way up the side of the hill so I drove all the way around and parked up at Expedition Place; but there is use path starting at elevation 6080 that heads straight up to the next higher street (Expedition Place). The trick is the trail from Expedition Place and Expedition Drive do not connect through the green space. It simply routes you up to the pubic mini sidewalk along Expedition Place and up to its trailhead. This adds a little more gain to the hike if one does park at the lower tier. I also found the TH off West Cedar Street and verified that it does in fact connect up the other trails even though it does not show that on Google. This route can give you a 1000 foot gain day to the top as it descends down into McIntire Gulch at around 5,820 feet and the climbs out to 6,855; so this is the longest highest gain route I have found yet.

As usual, I saw cotton tails, doe prancing in the woods again and heard the coyotes call each other then walked up close to one. Beautiful animal than..........whoosh he was gone
