Ascent Trip Report

Busted my knee from Denali so gave all my food to Ruth (win!).

The gradient was extremely easy on the knees as we took a leisurely stroll to eventually reach Long Lake and observe great views of Goode. Mosquitos were at an all time high this time of the year. Spent the night at Bishop Lake (would have preferred saddlerock in hindsight) as Agassiz was right in front of us. The hike from Long Lake onwards is exposed all the way till Bishop Pass.

At Bishop Pass, we dropped our packs and hiked straight up the mountain. There is no one way to summit. We mostly followed the wilderness boundary line up and encountered mostly class 2 and a little bit of class 3 non-exposed scrambling. The last 1000 ft were mostly a talus hop no matter which way you came up. First class 3 for Ruth which was awesome! On the way down, observed the sunset on our old friends: Tom, Basin, and Humphreys. Made our way back from the talus pile and set up camp near bishop Pass.

We spent a few hours day hiking into Dusy Basin and back. Would highly recommend camping in this garden of eden. There must be something about the water or these mountains that made all the hikers extremely friendly.
