Ascent Trip Report

This was the return trip back. No reason to summit the peak twice in one day so we bypassed the tourist walk up the summit (last 50 feet vertical) and went back the Old Mitchell Trail. This trail is in moderate shape and has plenty of fun vertical moves that gives it a feel of a Class 2 hike instead of a maintained trail class 1. THe sign calls it strenuous but that is a relative term. I would not consider it stenuous for people that hike reguarly. The best part of this odler trail is that nobody used it this day. Despite perfect weather we never passed anyone coming or going on it. 4 miles round trip if that is all you are doing. It even has a restaurant about one third of the way from the parking lot where the main road and the trail come together briefly but the food was not very good.

Final day - we left parking lot at 12:40 PM and returned to the car by 4:55 PM. I got 4 peaks above 6,000 feet and covered around 7 miles and 2,800 feet vertical gain on this particular trip along the Old Mitchell Trail. Completed 3 peaks in Craggy Gardens that day also. Perfect weather and temperature.
