Ascent of Mount Constitution on 2005-02-03| Date: | Thursday, February 3, 2005 | | Ascent Type: | Successful Summit Attained | | Motorized Transport to Trailhead: | Car | | Peak: | Mount Constitution | | Location: | USA-Washington | | Elevation: | 2407 ft / 733 m |
Ascent Trip ReportThis was the winter that was not a winter. The snow level was like 4000 feet in the Cascades in February which is improbable. So I go over to the San Juans to bag this peak expecting a temperate climate and no snow. Instead, the road is closed due to snow due to 800 feet. I guess the wind whipping off the ocean gives this a lower snow level than inland. I walked the gated, snow covered and empty road to the summit.
