Ascent Trip ReportThis day is why I do this. Left p. lot 0625 28 deg.,clear, dry. made W. peak around 0815. Trail between lean-to and peak is very rough and quite steep. Saw blazes where relocation will be skirting this area - lots of stone work. hats off to the trail crew - tough, tough work. down over W. peak all run-off frozen and lots of frost, ladder was covered. got to the col and looking up at E. peak realized this is why i get my butt out of bed at 03Dark to be first on the trail. Totally clear, high sky and the valleys below socked in with fog. up E. peak interesting with natural steps and traversing ramps. at top had to put on hat and gloves, took picture of my nasty ball cap on sign post then forgot and left it there. Could see 360 deg - Saddleback, Mt Blue, Mahoosucs, Washington. met about 20 hikers on their way up, back at car 1055.
