Ascent Trip Report

This was a surprisingly difficult highpoint to bag. Based on Dave Covill's trip report, I figured I would just have to jump out of the car, run across a field and be on my way again. This is not the case at all! I guess the "clear cut forest" mentioned by Dave has been completely overgrown since his report 10 years ago. Although the summit was only .14 air miles from where I parked my car, it took me 23 minutes to reach the Peakbagger coordinates due to the incredible growth of dense vegetation. Fortunately, I don't remember too many thorn bushes and, if there were, this highpoint might be impossible to reach. Vegetation was over my head most of the time and I could only see a few feet in front of me. Honestly, I doubt anyone will ever reach the true highest point here, because you can't see far enough ahead to know if a spot a few feet away is higher or lower. The best you can do is reach the Peakbagger's coordinates and call it good. Surprisingly, I made it back to my car in just 5 minutes, since I wasn't having to wander around in the dense overgrowth to find a single spot. I was just interested in getting back to the road, even if it dumped me out several hundred yards from my car! I had to change my shoes and socks before moving on because I was completely soaked from the waist down from all the dew. This is not a county highpoint I care to repeat!
