Ascent Trip Report***Solo hike Peaks: Gold Mountain (8,235'), Delamar Mountain (8,398'), Little Bear Peak (7,621'), and Onyx Peak #1 (9,113') in that order Stats: (TOTAL) 11 miles RT, +2,250' gain with a drive between each peak. BREAKDOWN: *Gold Mtn = 3.4 mi RT, +900' (Route 1) *Delamar Mtn = 1.5 mi RT, +600' (Alternate Route = PCT 1/3 mi followed by jeep road) *Little Bear Peak = 2.2 mi, +300' (Route 1, distance here is a little longer since gate was closed) *Onyx Peak #1 = 4 mi RT, +450' (Route 1, distance here is a little longer since my low vehicle car couldn't make it all the way; only drove 1 mi. in and even that was a little rough)
*************** 2x: July 31, 2010******************************** **Sierra Club HPS-Led Hike Leaders: Ted Lubeschkoff, Patrick Vaughn Peaks: Silver Peak (6756'), Arctic Point (8336'), Delamar Mountain (8398'), and Butler Peak (8535'), in that order Stats: 10 miles total, +4,000' gain with a drive in between each peak
BREAKDOWN: (1) Silver Peak: 3 miles RT, +1000' (UP = pathfinder, DOWN = HPS Route #1...Navigation somewhat challenging (2) Arctic Point: 3 miles RT, +800' (UP = pathfinder, DOWN = HPS Route #1)...Navigation very challenging (3) Delamar Mountain: 1 mile RT, +700' (via HPS Route #1) (4) Butler Peak: 3 miles RT, +1500' (NEW ROUTE, from Highway 18, went up a ridgeline, which intersected with the dirt road. Then turned left for 0.25 mile to the summit).
