Ascent Trip Report

The road was drivable by Civic to the Sturgeon River TH. the main headache are the local roads going through Sudbury that are glacially slow. The river was 3' deep in the middle and moving quickly, but still crossable with care.

The bushwack was 3 out of 10 on my difficulty scale and we maintained a 1.5 mph pace on that section. The trail was swampy like stuff in the 'dacks. Quick drying shoes are better than boots IMHO. The conditions are far wetter in the late spring than people reported for October, but still very much doable. It would have been an 8h day hike if we hadn't started at 5pm. We camped at the buggy established campsite, glad that we had carried the extra 3 lbs of gear. Do not bushwack at night. It would be a nightmare.

On the drive back to Milwaukee we picked up a hitchhiker wanting to get to Thunder Bay, a mere 10h detour for us. With the cold war brewing from Trump between USA and Canadia, we need to do all that we can to maintain good working relationships!
