Ascent Trip ReportIn 2003, I hiked along the westside of Long Benchmark. Found my bivy sack to be too cold at night. I went to Fairbanks and bought a cheap tent at Sears. Then I hiked up Edmonds Creek. Heard something large in the bushes next to the road, maybe a black bear. A mile later, I saw a fox, a wolverine, and a grizzly. In 2004, I parked on the highway and hiked the ATV trail to Butte Lake. Then I hiked XC to Deadman Creek. Deadman was an easy dayhike. 5 days and 4 nights total. Saw a grizz on days 2 and 5. Saw 3 moose and maybe 200 caribou. Butte Lake is popular fishing spot.
