Ascent Trip Report

As the name says, it is a big flat ridge, the High Point is next to a residential house and it is not obvious. My second visit.

I came to the area primarily to relive my 1997 AT experience with my wife Rose ........ the AT crosses the road .3mi west of this High Point which I visited while on the AT (see TR dated 2007-08-11). I brought Rose to the High Point and to the AT TH. Tonight we will overnight at the campground in Pine Grove Furnace State Park, the place where I met Bill and Gerry Myers, two AT "Trail Angels" who invited a perfect stinky Thru-Hiker into their home for free room and board (see TR dated 2007-08-12).

To get to the High Point from Pine Grove Furnace State Park, travel South on Hwy #233 about 6mi to a right turn on Shippensburg Road which climbs West 1.5mi to the wooded East Big Flat Ridge and a narrow private driveway (mail box #2570) on the left and the High Point area ..... the narrow gravel driveway leads 100 yards to a private residence in a small clearing in the woods, the High Point is to the left of the clearing but is not obvious.
There are a number of residences on Shippensburg Road atop the ridge. I also brought Rose to the small parking .3mi west of the driveway, where the AT crosses the Road.
