Ascent Trip Report

Snow present on all of trail except summit ridge and a few exposed rock areas. Snow was at least waist-deep below the treeline. Above the treeline, there were some exposed rock areas, but mostly snow covered. Above treeline, top layer of snow was suncrusted, and dry powder beneath to the ground, with varying depths (0-3? ft) apparently due to wind drifts. Snowshoes would have helped tremendously, as I post-holed the entire way up. Other parties on the mountain had snowshoes.

Lost the trail switchbacks above the treeline and went straight up the face. Summitted Wheeler then Mount Walter. Suncrust was mostly too thin to glissade efficiently.
