Ascent Trip Report

I don't usually visit county highpoints without a name, but since my last name is "Stewart" and spelled the same way as this county, I felt compelled to bag it. Both the north and south candidates are easy to grab with the northern spot only .1 mile from the road. It was an easy bushwhack and I saw no posted signs, but I was unable to find the benchmark. Near the highpoint was a long linear mound of dirt, but it appeared to be formed from a road cut, so it was not natural. I was back at my car after a round trip time of just 10 minutes. I was surprised to find an un-posted private drive that led me directly to the southern Stewart County candidate. It should be noted that this is not the same road shown on the topo map. I only had to drive .1 mile down this lane to an obvious rise in the road and I felt the highpoint was right there. So both Stewart County candidates are fairly easy highpoints to bag quickly. The southern spot is far enough away from the residence that you can grab it quickly without having to ask permission.
