Ascent Trip Report

I used the reports here to start my research and then used the Shelby County Tax Maps to find out who owned the property. (Google Shelby County Tax Maps: Use Explorer). I called and spoke to them about permission. I then drove out to the first gate on signal road and squeezed a parking job in that would not block the gate. There were people outside at the nearby house. I let them know of my plan and they didn't care at all.

I followed the road up 3 miles and 1000 feet of elevation gain to the summit. There was no summit marker. I saw the old cab of the fire tower that used to be there laying on the southern slope of the summit. If you walk behind the current radio towers to the northern slope of the summit there is a vista with a great view of the valley and opposing dunnavant area.

Pictures can be located on Facebook Group: Southern Hikers and Climbers on the day of the trip report.
