Ascent Trip Report

Turned back by severe lightening on the day we were supoosed to start. Pleasant the next day, which took us to barr camp. I slept in the forest the entire time (4 days). The summit day was quite nasty--cold rainy, windy. We dressed light (it was August) anticipating that the day would warm as it got later. We starteed at dawn and the weather refused to cooperate all the way up. It did get better on the descent--warmer. clearer. That night ,however, the skies open with one of the most severe thunderstorms in Colorado Springs history. Still it was a great day to hike back to the trailhead the following morning
