Ascent Trip Report

Took the tram from Ukanc to the ski resort, so this was not an ascent from the lake/road at 500m. The ski tram takes you to 1500m and we hiked the last 300m/1,000ft over about 3km. Amazing views from the top as the clouds cleared as we stood on the summit. It was cloudy for the hike up which was nice because it was hot. We met some 70 year old Slovenian guys just below the summit near the top of one of the chairlifts that was closed for the summer. They had some home-brewed wine which we all enjoyed together. Good introductory hike to the Julian Alps, though hardly difficult. Trail/ski area service road the whole way.
