Ascent Trip Report

It poured rain in the nite. Of course the topper on Kamala leaked some. In the chilly, foggy, morning while having coffee, i heard wolves howling back and forth. Awesome! Idaho's controversial wolf hunt was to open the 1st. how stupid! how could anyone shoot a wolf? that'd be like shooting Jed.
We drove back down south to Missouri Creek and a nice campspot. I had thought it would be a ATV road since for some wierd reason its Excluded from the RONRW boundary on maps, but glad to see the USFS has it blocked off and anyway deadfall across the old road would stop the damn ATV's, so now its a foot trail. yeah! I left at a spritely 11;00 and walked up Misouri into a lovely but burnt valley. Soon an old miners cabin (Nepal flag and Free Tibet sticker put on window) then the trail zigged steep up into a hi bowl then steeper up to the ridge. Coll views into the vast "No Return". then i headed north along the craggy ridge, traversing to east side of cliffs, and around and up some fun scrambling to north summit. Then down inot a notch and up the main south summit. Dark thundery clouds moving in. Not even a cairn of rocks on top. I bet its rarely climbed, even tho its the prettiest and steepest peak anywhere nearby. Lunch and a reg. tube with a Rupee in it, as the lite rain began. Decended directly south from notch past two pretty ponds and easy whackin thru burnt forest back to cabin, camp, and my waiting best friend, Jed. Now where?
