Ascent Trip Report

Cool 50 degrees at start of climb from Bolton Valley Ski area el.2100 at 10:10 a.m. temp. did not change all day. X-county ski trails to super highway of hiking known as Long Trail. Very wet and muddy especially higher up due to orographic lift. Quick ascent to Bolton Mtn. then onto Mt Mayo, and the high point of trail on Mt Clark, where it was then about a 3 to 4 tenths whack to dual summit jars at top. Signed in then back tracked to Bolton Mtn. Traversed by way of many very obscure overgrown x-country ski trails with at times seemingly bottomless moose wallows that were hard to see due to thick ferns for about1.75 to near the start of the semi whack to Ricker Mtn. and more endless slipping and sliding in the mud. Since it was now getting late in the day I was hoping to get a bear sighting since they tend to be more active late in the day. On the descent took the easy way and just used the downhill ski trails and service roads to base area. A four summit 5050 vertical ascent 11.50 mile 8 hour day.
