Driving Directions to Guthrie Peak

From Safford, Arizona, drive East on US 70/191 for about 10 miles.
Turn left onto US 191 where the highways split.
In 8.3 miles at milepost 139 turn left onto the Black Hills Back Country Biway.

0.0 Start of the Black Hills Back Country Biway.
3.0 Continue Straight past a road on your left.
3.2 Continue Straight. Deadman Canyon Road leads left. Black Hills Rockhound Area Road leads right.
4.0 Continue Straight.
4.9 Cross a cattleguard and enter Allreds Ranch.
6.6 Enter Greenlee County
7.1 Bear Right at a Y junction.
7.3 Pass Canyon Overlook Picnic Area on your left.
9.5 Guthrie Peak Road is on the right.
9.6 Parked at a tower on the left.

Follow the Guthrie Peak Road east to the tower-decorated summit. The road was open and could have been driven, but I chose to hike it instead. The benchmark is on the road near the summit.
