Ascent Trip ReportOne of the "New England 100 Highest". This was an AMC hike of about 30 people led by Gene Daniell, who has been an editor of the AMC White Mountain Guidebook for many years. White Cap and this peak (they call it Boundary Peak but that is not an official name either)are on private land. The AMC organizes an annual hike around Labor Day so most of the people working on the Hundred Highest can go together and minimize problems with the private landowners. This peak is actually right on the border -- you hike along a "border swath" through the trees, with little iron obelisks about three feet high marking the actual border. Back then, both peaks had registers in little plastic tubes attached to trees.
