Ascent Trip Report

Encouraged about ease of access from a recent TR, I finally climbed the hill I look at regularly on the way to work. The road to the summit is gated. However, there is walking gate to the right, which was open. Its a short pleasant walk to the summit, upon which is an American Tower facility. The view from the top is phenomenal. One can see the Sutter Buttes and Snow Mtn to the northwest, Folsom Lake and downtown Sacramento to the west, Rancho Seco and Bear Mountain to the south, and a very nice view of the snow-capped Crystal Range in all its glory, to the west. On the map this is shown to be an ecological preserve, but on the way down, we were stopped by the first homeowner on the right, who informed us that we were trespassing. He stated there is a public tour of the ecological preserve once year. I bid him a good day and proceeded on my way.
